My name is Kristen Spelce and I am the owner of The Hiss’n Kitten Waxing Center and HK Wax Center – Austin Arbor which just opened up in the Austin Arboretum. I was born and raised in North Austin and know this is without a doubt the best city for waxing! Nothing beats the gorgeous lakes and the amazing atmosphere that Austin has to offer.
Professional Waxing -The Right Choice
My first experience with waxing was when I attempted to wax my bikini line with an at-home waxing kit. Shaving has always been a nightmare for me so I was excited to try something that would last longer. As I’m sure you can imagine, it went TERRIBLY wrong. Swearing I was never going to wax again (after that experience), I eventually gave in and went to my first professional brazilian waxing appointment years later. SO MUCH BETTER! The rest is history since I instantly fell in love with waxing.
After that, I decided to enroll in Esthetics school at Avenue Five Institute here in Austin, Texas (78757) and soon graduated with my Esthetics license specializing in Facial & Body Waxing. I got a job at European Wax Center off Anderson Mill (78750) and started waxing as soon as possible. They were a great company that taught me how to wax properly. I am forever grateful for everything I learned there and all the experience I received. Building relationships with all my wonderful clients is what made my day.
The Hiss’n Kitten Waxing Center Was Born
After a couple of years working at European, I wanted to make a change. Finally, I had the courage to make the “jump” and opened up my own waxing business out of state in 2014. Coming up with a name was not easy. I always knew I wanted to have the word “kitty” in my business name, unfortunately the name ‘The Pretty Kitty’ was already taken by a waxing salon in the Austin Domain (78758)! This is how I came up with The Hiss’s Kitten Waxing Center. Being a business owner was scary, but so rewarding! I absolutely loved it and it wasn’t long before I was ready to open a second waxing studio here in Austin. After getting settled, I immediately opened up my newest location, HK Wax Center – Austin Arbor (short for Hiss’n Kitten).

We are located inside Sola Salon Studios – Arboretum Crossing in 78759, but just bordering 78731. This is the perfect place for a wax salon due to all the shopping areas nearby.
